Book Review : Probability with Applications and R
Robert R. Dobrow
– Excellent combination of mathematics and real world examples , ranging from rolling of dice to card games , to teach probability and statistics.
– Has exercises in R in between lectures so that the reader can immediately try out the concepts using the opensource R language.
– Math heavy. If you are not inclined to read through mathematics symbols , this may not be for you.
– The charts are not in color? Or maybe I am spoiled by beautiful graphs in ISLR 🙂
– Not cheap too.
Summary : Probability with Applications and R is definitely one of my recommended titles if you are math inclined and want to know both theory and practice. This will keep you busy for along time.
